The BBVA Group Code of Conduct

The Laredo National Bank encourages strict principles and ethical conduct through a code of conduct for all employees and officers in the group.

This is a faithful guide to the highest standards of integrity and honesty and it is part of the overall goal of establishing ethical business principles in accordance with the best international practice.

The BBVA Group Code of Conduct matches the principles in its system of corporate governance, the BBVA experience and the corporate culture.

Furthermore the code is a formal expression of one of its corporate principles: "Ethical behavior and personal integrity as a way of understanding and conducting business".

The code is applicable to all the companies that make up the BBVA group all over the world including The Laredo National Bank. It is based on four key ethical values:
  • Respect for the dignity and rights of all people
  • Respect for people's equality and diversity
  • Strict compliance with the law
  • A professional approach
The code applies to three basic aspects of corporate integrity. They are:

Integrity in relations: it specifies the commitments and defines the guidelines that will govern the relations between BBVA and its customers, employees, suppliers and society in general.

Integrity in the markets: it establishes operating criteria whose objective is to preserve the integrity and transparency of markets and free competition.

Personal integrity: it establishes guidelines to ensure the professional objectivity of employees and managers, and to encourage a working environment that is respectful, transparent and committed to BBVA's business objectives in the service of customers and society.

Lastly, the code deals with compliance. There is a corporate compliance department and a number of similar units in the different business areas of the group. It also defines a series of committees for corporate integrity.

These two elements are the key factors in BBVA's organizational integrity.

They ensure that its activities are aimed at effective compliance with the code.

If you wish to report any actual or suspected wrongful conduct, complaint, and/or violation you may do so by accessing the Ethics Reporting Form.
